ROB AUSTIN, EXOCET AUDI FOR CASTLE COMBE’S FORGE ACTION DAY
• BTCC’s favourite car-drive combo to star at action packed festival (13 Sept)
• Another major guest appearance after wowing 35,000 crowd at Santa Pod’s Bug Jam
Fresh from being mobbed by the public at Santa Pod’s Bug Jam festival, British Touring Car star Rob Austin can confirm he and his Exocet Racing Audi ‘Sherman’ are scheduled to make another guest appearance at Castle Combe Circuit’s Performance Car Action Day (Sat 13 Sept) – sponsored by one of his team’s partners Forge Motorsport.
Rob (Evesham, Worcs) will demonstrate Sherman around the popular Wiltshire circuit in front of thousands more petrolheads who regularly turn out for the one-day event that features plenty of high-speed action on track with plenty of carnival-like atmosphere off it – including static displays of more than 1500 mouth-watering machines from some 100 car owners clubs.
Castle Combe’s Neil Thomas commented: “Rob’s popularity in Britain’s biggest motor racing championship has skyrocketed in the last few years so we are delighted to attract him to our Action Day. People knowing he’s here is excellent for the promotion of the event and, ever the showman, he will surely add to the spectacle and attract even more public through our gates.”
Meanwhile Rob and the Rob Austin Racing team which prepares his Exocet Audi were among the stars of the show during last weekend’s Bug Jam which played to some 35,000 motor-mad fans – the majority enthusiasts of all things VW and Audi.
Perhaps the highlight of the weekend was taking on a 500bhp ‘Campervan’ up Santa Pod’s world-famous quarter-mile drag strip – a sprint that produced probably the closest finish all weekend!
