Lewis Hamilton won the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix to end the season in which he clinched his fifth world championship on a high.

It was the 11th victory of the year for Hamilton, who dominated the race with a controlled drive on an off-set strategy.

His former title rival Sebastian Vettel took second after Hamilton’s team-mate Valtteri Bottas faded to fifth, which means the Finn ends the season without a victory.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo took third and fourth.

Max Verstappen explains why his Abu Dhabi qualifying lap was a “disaster”. Believing he could have gone faster if it weren’t for the team overheating his tyres before the run.

Fernando Alonso has admitted he is open to the idea of returning to Formula 1 in the near future if he is able to find the motivation. But he currently has no plans for 2020 with plenty of options available to him.

HUGE CRASH as Nico Hulkenberg flips over and goes into the barriers. There are flames from the back of his motor. He’s upside down. Not sure who he collided with there.

they wanted to get the car the right way round before he was able to get out. Good news. He’s fine, though I am sure a little shaken. It was a collision with Grosjean on the exit of the chicane. Grosjean was on the outside of the first part before the inside of the second. Hulkenberg turned in and his rear wheel connected with Grosjean’s front and flipped him over at – relatively – low speed.

“I’m hanging here like a cow, get me out of here, there’s fire. There’s fire,” he says on the radio.
