Round 1 SIlverstone TCRUK Championship
Relishing the start of the new season in the TCRUK Championship, Wilson had his sights set on mounting a podium challenge at the very least but only getting the car few days before race one was all put to the very last minute.
With the team having made so much effort with the car and getting it all prepared ahead of round one was a very good effort by all and the car was on form in qualifying from a very early start, with great pace. we managed 7th due to tyres not lasting and not having the right set up due to technical issues with the type of tyres we use.
We spoke with Darelle after Race 1:
“Race one was hopefully going to give us the answers we wanted with the car performing really well and had really great grip on the corners.
At the start of the 1st race again our inexperience with the car caught us out as we had selected the wrong launch mode and dropped to 10th by the first corner by lap 6 we where up to 7th when a slight brush with another car sent us into the gravel and then it was retirement.
By the time the car was back to Parc ferme they had less than 20 mins to go before the assembly for race 2 where they had no option to remove the car from parc ferme to remove all the gravel and clean up the tyres which meant they were’nt able to benefit from the reverse grid as the rules say we had to start dead last A much better start this time meant they had overtook one car before Copse corner
a cautious first few laps spent looking after the tyres saw them only move up to 11th, before he was happy to push the tyres hard. They quickly moved up to 7th over the next few laps and from then on in where involved in a battle royale with Jessica Backman in her VW Golf, Jessica went on to finish in front of him but I gained the 7th place back when Aiden retired with 2 laps left
All in all we are extremely happy with the performance of the Atra and are looking forward to the next round at knockhill where we WILL be better prepared
